In his speech, the guest of honour, Hon. BAMPORIKI EDOUARD, got started by explaining the reasons why young generation should know culture, values, and history of Rwanda as the native land. He said that culture is conveyed from generation to generation. ‘Normally, culture stuck on the following three main pillars: legacy, creation and what we get from other countries.
He called upon the entire ULK community/Gisenyi campus especially the youth to stand up and make a research on history of Rwanda and many things related to ancient culture and values of our ancestors. He went further by saying that knowing culture will provide to each and every one the core image of our duty and responsibility to protect our nation and sustain its achievements.
Being asked the origin of motivation which pushed RPF to liberate a nation, Hon. BAMPORIKI Edouard answered by referring to the main cause of the battle. He said ‘the motivation was coming from the situation Rwandan refugees were facing at the time’.
He further went by saying that the spirit of sacrifice and determination were their guidance, spirit of humility and self-reliance were their node. The speaker’s talk climaxed in a call he made to all those in the room and outside the room to step in the same steps of our ancestors who would be patient and strive for the expansion of the nation. ‘Let’s Self-esteem and self-reliance be our goal as Rwandans’.
