ULK Founder and President Honored at Rotary Club of Kigali Virunga’s 26th Presidential Installation Ceremony
The Rotary Club of Kigali Virunga marked a significant milestone on Saturday, June 7, 2025, as it hosted its 26th Presidential Installation Ceremony, an event that welcomed Mr. Peter Malinga as the newly elected president, succeeding Ms. Dunia Jacqueline. The event was held in a spirit of celebration and renewal, bringing together Rotarians, dignitaries, and members of the wider community.
Among the distinguished guests was Prof. Dr. Rwigamba Balinda, Founder and President of Kigali Independent University ULK, who was honored during the ceremony for his outstanding contributions to education and society. The Rotary Club praised his lifelong dedication to empowering young people through education and his lasting impact on community development in Rwanda.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Rwigamba Balinda began by expressing gratitude to Almighty God, and extended appreciation to the national leadership led by His Excellency President Paul Kagame, as well as to his wife, children, and other stakeholders for their continued support, protection, guidance, and advice throughout his journey.
He shared an inspiring account of his academic journey and the founding of ULK, emphasizing the importance of serving society rather than seeking personal gain. “Let us work hard not for our personal benefits, but for the benefit of society,” he encouraged the audience, urging them to embrace service, vision, and resilience.
Newly installed President Peter Malinga, in his address, echoed themes of unity, integrity, and service, setting a collaborative tone for the Rotary Club’s activities in the coming year.
