ULK Student Nshimyimana Divine Wins First Place in National Reading and Book Writing Competition
The Kigali Independent University ULK community celebrated a remarkable achievement as one of our student, Nshimyimana Divine, emerged first in a national competition focused on reading excellence and book writing, organised to promote a stronger culture of reading and writing in Rwanda in a books launch and awarding ceremony that took place on 5th September 2026 at the Kigali Convention Center.

The competition brought together participants in activities designed to encourage young people and students to develop a passion for reading, writing and knowledge acquisition. It was organised through the collaboration of the Rwanda Books Industry Association (RWABIA), the Private Sector Federation (PSF), and other partners committed to strengthening Rwanda’s reading and writing culture.

Nshimyimana Divine’s outstanding performance earned her the first position in the competition, bringing recognition not only to her personal talent and dedication but also to Kigali Independent University ULK, which was recognised as the university whose student emerged as the overall winner.
The achievement demonstrates the importance of creating opportunities for students to showcase their abilities beyond the classroom while encouraging them to engage with books, develop their writing skills and contribute to a knowledge-based society.
