ULK & ULK Polytechnic Celebrate Culture, Diversity and Unity in a Vibrant Cultural Day

Kigali Independent University (ULK) along with ULK Polytechnic Institute, successfully hosted a colorful Cultural Day on 23rd January 2026, bringing together students and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds under the theme “Celebrating Culture, Diversity & Unity.”

The event officially opened with welcoming remarks from Dr. Roger Mugabe, Director of Student Affairs, who highlighted the importance of cultural appreciation and unity in academic life. The opening address was delivered by Eng. Musabyimana Jean Pierre, Principal of ULK Polytechnic Institute, who encouraged students to embrace diversity as a strength that fuels innovation and global competence.

Students from more than 15 countries including Rwanda, Nigeria, Sudan, DRC, Burundi, Uganda, Ethiopia, Angola, Afghanistan, and others, proudly showcased their cultures through traditional dances and stunning cultural attire, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere on campus.

The event concluded with inspiring closing remarks from Dr. Roger Mugabe, who applauded the unity displayed and reaffirmed ULK’s commitment to nurturing globally minded graduates.

 

The Cultural Day not only entertained but also strengthened intercultural understanding, student engagement, and ULK’s identity as a truly international university. It stands as a testament to ULK’s dedication to diversity, unity, and holistic education.
